Test Centre Guide

    Baillieston Driving Test Centre

If your test is booked at Baillieston, it helps to know three things before the day: where the centre actually is, how it compares to the others, and what the roads around it will ask of you. Andy Gregg is a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor based in Moodiesburn whose pupils sit their tests here.

    • DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI)
    • 341 Springhill Parkway, G69 6GA
    • Door-to-door pickup across the east end
    • 47.4% pass rate, 2025–26 (DVSA)

Manual lessons only. No call centre and no rota of instructors — you deal with Andy.

Baillieston runs all three. Airdrie is car and ADI part 3 only; Bishopbriggs is car tests only.

Lessons cover Baillieston and Garrowhill, Mount Vernon, Springboig, Easterhouse, Sandyhills, Uddingston and the east end of Glasgow, with pupils sitting their test at the Baillieston Test Centre. Whether you're a complete beginner, a nervous learner, or returning to driving after a break, you'll get a tailored plan and honest feedback after every lesson.

Baillieston Test Centre — Local Knowledge

Baillieston Test Centre on Springhill Parkway is one of Glasgow's busiest, sitting among fast dual carriageways, tight residential estates and several large roundabouts. Learners here get used to switching between very different kinds of road inside a single lesson.

Andy won't drill you round the test routes. Learning to drive isn't learning a circuit, and passing that way leaves you stuck the first time you drive somewhere unfamiliar. Nearer your test he'll take you out on roads the examiners use, so nothing on the day comes as a shock — but the aim throughout is a driver who can handle any road, not one who has memorised a handful.

At Baillieston Test Centre On The Day

    • Address: Springhill Parkway, Cumbernauld Road, Baillieston, Glasgow (G69 6GA)
    • Parking: Free on-site parking directly outside the centre
    • Waiting room: Small indoor waiting area — arrive 5–10 minutes before your slot with your provisional licence

    Baillieston Test Centre Pass Rate

The most recently published DVSA pass rate for Baillieston Test Centre is 47.4% (2025–26 (DVSA table DRT122A, gov.uk — 10,428 tests, 4,947 passes)), compared to the 50.0% national average. Baillieston sits a little under the 50.0% GB average, and improved markedly on the previous year. It is a demanding centre, and candidates who are genuinely comfortable with the local roundabouts and slip roads tend to fare better. Source: DVSA driving test data by centre.

Which Centre Will You Test At?

It depends on where you live and which centre has a slot — Andy's pupils use all three. Two or three percentage points between centres matters far less than the roads you have actually practised on.

Why Learners in Baillieston Choose Andy

Baillieston's mix of busy A-roads and quiet residential grids can catch out learners who only train on one type of road. Andy structures lessons to build both skill sets side by side, so you're confident whether the examiner takes the dual-carriageway route or a slower estate loop. All lessons use a fully insured, dual-controlled car with door-to-door pickup across Baillieston, Garrowhill and the east end.

    Frequently Asked Questions

It is at 341 Springhill Parkway, Business Park, Glasgow, G69 6GA, and the DVSA lists it under the name "Glasgow (Baillieston)". The name catches people out: the centre sits in a business park on the eastern edge of the city, not near the city centre. There is free on-site parking, and the DVSA's test centre finder records it as accessible if you use a wheelchair.

Baillieston was 47.4% in 2025–26 — 4,947 passes from 10,428 car tests. That is a little under the 50.0% GB average, and up on the 44.4% recorded the year before. The figures come from table DRT122A in the DVSA's published car test data.

Car tests, plus ADI part 2 and ADI part 3 — the qualifying tests taken by people training to become driving instructors. That combination is not available at every local centre: the DVSA finder lists Airdrie as car and ADI part 3 only, and Bishopbriggs as car tests only.

No, and deliberately so. Andy will take you out on the roads around the centre as your test approaches, so nothing on the day is unfamiliar, but he will not drill you round the published routes. In his words: "learning to drive isn't just about passing a test".

They change character quickly. Within one lesson you can go from the dual carriageway on Edinburgh Road to tight residential streets around Garrowhill and Mount Vernon, then on to the roundabouts and motorway slip roads where the M8 and M74 meet. Learners who have only practised on one kind of road tend to come unstuck here.

Yes — 10,428 car tests in 2025–26 makes it one of the busiest in Scotland by volume, roughly twice Airdrie and well above Bishopbriggs. Worth knowing when you book, because slots go quickly.

Yes — a full mock test under proper test conditions is strongly recommended before your DVSA test. It is the fastest way to identify any lingering weak spots.

Yes. Around 20 minutes of every test uses a sat-nav for independent driving. Andy uses the same model examiners use, so it is completely familiar well before test day.

Yes. Andy is a fully qualified DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) with over 15 years of driving experience covering Baillieston, Garrowhill, Mount Vernon and the east end of Glasgow.

Call or message Andy on 07492 059296, or send an enquiry through the site and he will come back to you himself. Lessons are manual only, in a fully insured dual-controlled car, with door-to-door pickup across Baillieston and the surrounding area. Current rates are on the pricing page.

Not meaningfully. The 2025–26 DVSA figures (table DRT122A) put Baillieston at 47.4% from 10,428 tests, Airdrie at exactly the same 47.4% from 4,599, and Bishopbriggs highest at 49.8% from 6,186, against a 50.0% GB average. Baillieston is much the busiest of the three, which is worth knowing when you book, but the 2.4 point spread between them is smaller than the difference practising the local roads makes.
